Summary:PURPOSE:To eliminate any erroneous action from drive of the electric apparatus of a electric heater and/or an electric air pump for secondary air introduction and operate it at a quick response speed of the apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A filter 5 is provided in an exhaust system of a diesel engine 1 and particulates are collected in the filter 5. An electric heater 6 is arranged on the end of the filter 5. A semi-conductive switching element 12 (npn bipolar transistor) is arranged on the way to the power supply curcuit of the electric heater 6 and a low pass filter 13 is provided on its base terminal. ECU16 outputs duty signals to the base terminal of the transistor 12 through the low pass filter 13 and energizes the electric heater 6 so as to ignite particulates collected in the filter 5.
