Summary:PURPOSE:To efficiently and economically decide the end time of decarburization for dead soft molten steel by estimating the attaining time to the decarburization end objective carbon concn. by a specified difference method, based on the carbon analysis value, molten steel temp. and oxygen concn. in molten steel. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel is subjected to vacuum degassing treatment, and based on the vacuum decarburizing treatment end point judgement, extra-low carbon concn. molten steel is melted. In this case, after the start of evacuation, at an optional time, the molten steel sample is sampled and is chemically analyzed. Based on the obtd. carbon analysis value, molten steel temp. measured at the same time and the value of oxygen concn. by an oxygen concn. sensor, the time at which the decarburization end objective carbon concn. is attained is estimated by a difference method shown by the formula, and the decarburizing treatment end point time is decided.
