Summary:PURPOSE:To erase only the unwanted data collectively by providing a first flag showing whether or not the effective data are stored and a second flag showing whether or not the coincidence is detected. CONSTITUTION:When this associative memory is applied to a LAN network system, first of all, whether or not the coincidence detection is performed in the past, that is, whether or not respective terminals are participated in the transmission and reception of the data is discriminated according to the contents of respective second flag registers 55 corresponding to respective memory words 11. Then, by storing a free flag '1' in first flag registers 51 corresponding to the memory words 11 where no coincidence detection is performed, the data of the terminals which are not participated in transmission and reception of the data are erased col-lectively, and all flags of the second flag registers 55 are reset to the state where no coincidence detection exists, and the history state of the coincidence detection is started newly.
