Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain vehicle outside information by a stereoscopic picture in a stereoscopic sense and a sense of distance by installing a couple of video cameras enabling two-eye stereoscopic vision in the vicinity of a driver's seat. CONSTITUTION:When a couple of video cameras (including stereoscopic 2-eye video camera) 61, 62 for 2-eye stereoscopic vision to pick up an image of a forward area of a vehicle are installed in the vehicle, a couple of the video cameras 61, 62 are installed in the vicinity of a driver's seat (e.g. both ends of a headless 10 of the driver's seat). Thus, the forward area of the vehicle is picked up in response to a forward scene viewed from the driver at a position close to left and right visual points of the driver. Thus, out-vehicle information is served to the driver by a stereoscopic picture sufficiently in a stereoscopic sense and a sense of distance.
