Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a method and apparatus for manipulating a control rod in which a control rod and a control rod driver coupled through a bayonet coupling system can be uncoupled, the control rod and a fuel supporting metal can be drawn out simultaneously above an upper lattice plate, and control rod replacing time can be shortened. CONSTITUTION:At first, a control rod manipulator 100 is lowered into a reactor core by means of the auxiliary hoist of a fuel replacing machine and a fuel supporting metal (FS) manipulating part 22 is lowered onto an FS 7 by means of an elevating/lowering section 23 thus positioning the FS manipulating part 22 by means of a positioning pin 38. The FS 7 is then clamped with an FS clamper 32 and detached above from an upper lattice plate 9 by means of the elevating/lowering section 23. Control rod CR 6 is then clamped by means of a control rod(CR) clamper 34 and turned by 45 deg. in the peripheral direction through a clamping/turning section 24 thus uncoupling the CR 6 and a control rod driver(CRD) 4 coupled through a bayonet coupling 10. The CR 6 is then drawn out above the upper lattice plate 9 by means of the auxiliary hoist of fuel replacing machine under that state.
