Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent sound absorptivity, by sticking metallic plates to form a unit as the whole to both faces of a fibrous mat made of compressed and molded inorganic fibers and then providing punched hose on the metallic plate. CONSTITUTION:Rockwool fibers having furnace slag as the main row material are molded with pressure by use of a high-moleculer organic adhesive like phenol resin to form a fibrous mat 1. The density of fibrous mat 1 is adjusted about 80-250kg/m and the adhesive is added about 0.5-3.0% by weight. Next, the fiber mat 1 is put between two sheets of metallic plates. A punched metal plate 2 in which a number of holes are made in zigzag is used for the metallic plate at the indoor side and a painted steel plate 3 is used for the outdoor side. Accordingly, propagating sound-wave oscillations are effectively absorbed.
