Summary:PURPOSE:To provide the ID number register for cordless telephone equipment which can register the ID number of a hand set with more simplified work. CONSTITUTION:A base unit 30 is provided with a light emitting means 12, ID storage ROM 4 storing the ID number, charging detection circuit 8, charging circuit 7 to supply a charging voltage current to a power supply battery 55 of a hand set 50, and control circuit 3 to control respective circuit operations in the base unit 30. The hand set 50 is provided with a light receiving element 60, power supply battery 55, ID storage ROM 54 composed of an EEPROM or the like, and control circuit 53 to control the operation of respective circuits in the hand set. When the base unit 30 is turned to an ID number sending mode and the hand set 50 is turned to an ID number register mode, the ID number is read from the ID storage ROM 4, converted to an optical signal, and sent to a light receiving terminal 60 by a light transmitting means 12. In the case of the ID number received by the light receiving terminal 60, it is written in the ID storage ROM, and ID registration is performed.
