PURPOSE:To provide the automatic transaction machine which reduces trouble in transaction and shorten a transaction time. CONSTITUTION:When a clerk key 8 is turned on the automatic transaction machine which automatically performs the payment transaction of cash by user's operation, a clerk process screen is displayed on a CRT display device. A clerk inputs the amount of money paid by using this screen and sets and stores it in a storage part 18. Then a bill reception and payment unit 13 operates to take bills corresponding to the amount of money paid, set as mentioned above, out of an unshown safe, count them, and then convey them to a bill opening, thus making preparations for payment. At this time, the device is in a user stand-by state. When the user presses a payment transaction key at this time, a process of payment transaction is performed under the control of a main control part 21. In this process, none of the input of the amount of money paid, the confirmation of the inputted amount of money paid, and the takeout counting of bills is performed.
