Summary:PURPOSE:To perform the image synthesis of a three-dimensional object as the combination image of plural polygons in an excellent condition, without generating a clearance caused by an arithmetic error between adjacent polygons. CONSTITUTION:An image information supply source 10 performs a perspective projection transformation of a three-dimensional display object expressed as a polyhedron composed of the combinations of plural apex coordinates on a prescribed plane of projection and transforms the object to a two-dimensional image with plural polygons expressed by each projected apex combined. A field processor circuit 12 direct the X-coordinate of a contour point where the contour line connecting each apex of the polygons and a horizontal scanning line for raster display crosses to either one of the increase or decrease of the Y-axis crossing with the horizontal scanning line, calculates the X-coordinate while chaning the Y-coordinates of all the contours and calculates the left and right contour points pair of each polygon crossing with the horizontal line. An image synthesis circuit 14 combines plural polygons and outputs an image signal for two-dimensional image synthesis based on the left and right contour points pair of each polygon to be calculated. Thus, the three-dimensional object can be synthesized as a two-dimensional image without generating a clearance between adjacent combined polygons.
