Summary:PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for the replacement of oil in a compressor and to reduce the amount of oil which remains after draining by providing in an air releasing passage a switching valve which is closed while the oil is being replaced. CONSTITUTION:A switching valve 31 is provided between an air releasing valve 8 and a muffler 9 and is normally opened. When a compressor main body 1 is stopped, the air releasing valve 8 is opened and releases compressed gas from between the compressor main body 1 and an oil separating recovery unit 6 so that pressure within the delivery-side portion of the compressor main body 1 is relieved to atmospheric pressure. With this, oxidation and degradation of oil progress and when the time of replacement of the oil comes the switching valve 31 is closed, and kept closed even while the compressor main body 1 is being stopped, so that compressed gas fills the oil separating recovery unit 6. After the compressor main body 1 is stopped, switching valves 17, 19 are opened and then the oil retained in and between the oil separating recovery unit 6 and an oil cooler 12 is discharged from first and second drain passages 18, 20 while being pressurized by the compressed gas.
