PURPOSE:To provide a method to form a wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant film which can give improved hardness and hardly peels from the base material when the film is used as the surface finish of mechanical parts such as rolls, step rolls and electromagnetic chucks. CONSTITUTION:A first coating film 2 is formed by plating or the like on the surface of a material to be coated with a thermal spray film. Then, a carbide cermet or the like is thermally sprayed on the first coating film layer 2 to form the second coating film layer 3, and if necessary, a third coating layer is formed by plating on the second coating film layer 3.
