Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce the damage of a movable seal plate by opening the lower end of the mavable seal plate at the back surface side of a hood and independently fitting each seal plate with a weight to a shaft arranged at the upper end part of an opening hole so as to be possible to open/close, in the exhaust gas absorbing hood in a horizontal type cylindrical converter. CONSTITUTION:The lower end part of the back surface hood 10 of the hood for collecting the exhaust gas in the horizontal type cylindrical converter is made to be the movable seal plate 9, and the movable seal plate 9 is connected with the back surface hood 10 and a compass type connecting tool 11 and opened/closed by an air cylinder 8. The lower end of this movable seal plate 9 is opened and plural pieces of small seal plates 13 are fitted to the shaft 12 arranged to the upper end part of the opening hole, and this small seal plate has a blade plate 14 on each side surface and projects outward, and the weight 15 is fitted so as to be freely opened/closed. By this method, as the small seal plate is opened if some bulky material drops on this plate, the shock is drastically relaxed, and it is no fear of the deformation and the sucking quantity of the outer air can be reduced.
