PURPOSE:To easily mass-produce a color filter having an extra-high-precision light shielding layer. CONSTITUTION:A negative or positive photosensitive coating film is formed on at least a transparent conductive layer of a substrate, etc., having the transparent conductive layer and a light shielding layer on the outermost surface, the film is exposed through a mask having a pattern with the light transmittance different in three stages, the positive coating film at the pattern part is developed and removed, a colored coating material is electro-deposited on the exposed transparent conductive layer to form a colore layer, and the process is repeated with respect to the pattern part to produce a color filter. Accordingly, a high-grade micro fabrication technique is not needed, a latitude in the pattern shape of the colored layer is increased, all the patternings are performed by one exposure, and the filter is easily enlarged in size.
