Summary: | PURPOSE:To obtain a polarizing half mirror having high use efficiency of light and adoptable for the whole range of visible rays to be formed on the joined surface of a prism-type beam splitter by successively forming layers from the substrate side satisfying specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A half mirror 3 is formed on a prism 1 comprising BK glass and then a prism 3 having the same shape is adhered with an adhesive. The polarizing half mirror formed on the joined surface is constituted of layers in order from the substrate side so as to satisfy the following conditions. 2.00<=n1<=2.10, 0.72lambda<=n1d1<=0.78lambda, 1.46<=n2<=1.47, 0.84lambda<=n2d2<=0.90lambda, 2.00<=n3<=2.10, 0.84lambda<=n3d3<=0.90lambda, 1.46<=n4<=1.47, 1.30lambda<=n4d4<=1.36lambda, 2.00<=n5<=2.10, 1.03lambda<=n5d5<=1.09lambda, 1.46<=n6<=1.47, 1.34lambda<=n6d6<=1.40lambda, etc., wherein lambdais 1/4 of the design wavelength, ni is refractive index of the i-th layer, and nidi is the optical thickness of the i-th layer. |
