Summary:PURPOSE:To produce a cement additive excellent in dilution stability and cement miscibility, and to obtain a cement composition containing the cement additive and excellent in application workability and in the durability of applied articles. CONSTITUTION:This cement additive contains as a main component an emulsion which contains ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having an ethylene unit/vinyl acetate unit weight ratio of 5/95 to 40/60 and an average particle diameter of 0.3-0.8mum and which is produced by copolymerizing the ethylene with the vinyl acetate in the presence of a particle stabilizer comprising 0.1-6 pts.wt. of a water-soluble polymer, 0.1-2 pts.wt. of a reactive anionic surfactant and 2-8 pts.wt. of a nonionic surfactant as a colloid-protecting agent per 100 pts.wt. of the vinyl acetate, and a cement composition containing this cement additive is obtained.
