Summary:PURPOSE:To provide high corrosion resistance to a ferrous material, such as cast iron, having corrosive property. CONSTITUTION:Electroless nickel plating treatment is applied to a ferrous material to form a uniform plating layer, and then, defective parts are impregnated with resin to improve corrosion resistance. The ferrous material includes cast iron, etc., having many defective parts and capable of forming a member of complicated shape. The thickness of the nickel plating layer is regulated, e.g. to about 5-35mum, and the impregnation with resin can be done by a vacuum impregnation process, a pressure impregnation process, etc. Further, high corrosion resistance can be attained by performing the impregnation with resin plural times. In the resulting electroless nickel plated member, an electroless nickel plating layer is formed on the ferrous material and the defective parts of the above ferrous material, as well as the defective parts of the above plating layer, are impregnated with resin.
