Summary:PURPOSE:To record a smooth oblique line by reducing step difference and irregularity which occur at recording the oblique line which is nearly parallel with a scanning line, in an optical recording method appropriate for a laser printer. CONSTITUTION:Information to be interpolated in the vertical scanning direction is generated at a vertical scanning direction interpolation circuit 21 based on original information 18 sent from a calculator 37. The obtained information is sent to a multiple frequency light modulator drive circuit 22 so as to drive an AO light modulator 4.
