Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a vacuum evaporation heat exchanger of the non-contact type having high heat-exchange capacity wherein maintenance and control is easily performed and manufacturing cost is low, and to effectively utilize energy by sending recovered heat to a high temperature heat pump. CONSTITUTION:A tightly closed tank 14 able to keep vacuum state is made vacuous by a vacuum pump 22. If hot waste water W1 is fed into the tank 14, the water W1 vaporizes, whereby sensible heat is turned to latent heat. The vapor is then condensed on the surface of a heat exchange coil 28 so that the latent heat is turned to sensible heat, causing thereby the temperature of water W2 circulating through the coil 26 connected to a circulation pipe 28 to rise. As a result, chemical components and scales contained in the water W1 will not cause corrosion of the coil 26 or attachment of the scales to the outer surface of the coil can be prevented. And by combining a vacuum evaporation heat exchanger 10 with a high temperature heat pump 32, failure of the heat pump due to the chemical components or scales can be avoided.
