PURPOSE:To expand the industrial practicality by utilizing the stationary type reactive power control device to regulate the reactive electric energy and voltage of an electric power system such as a distribution line. CONSTITUTION:The constitution of the thyristor part of the reactive power control device is greatly simplified by setting the total capacity of the reactance of an AC transformer 11 and the reactance of a reactor 12 which is shown at a commercial frequency to >=30% of the capacity of a capacitor 13. Further, a current which flows to the thyristor is reduced and the control range of delay reactive power is expanded. Further, a higher harmonic current is reduced and the influence upon the power system is small, so that the practicality is expanded. Further, the effective capacity of the reactor 12 is reduced, the size, weight, and price are reducible, and a noise is also reduced.
