Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a smooth, accurate method for controlling the shield jacks of a shield excavator by rotating the shield jacks smoothly. CONSTITUTION:Shield jacks 9-1-9-18 with which the excavator main body 1 of a shield excavator is provided are grouped into eight blocks B1-B8 and a valve is disposed in each block to equalize hydraulic pressures fed to the shield jacks of the same block. A point Q1 of force is calculated from a controlled angle when the shield jacks are rotated. The thrust of the block B-2 where the point Q1 of force based on principle 1 is located is greatest and the thrust of the block B-6 in a point-symmetrical relation to the block B-2 is lowest. The thrusts are decreased stepwise from the blocks B-1 to B-4 to B-8 to B-5 to B-7. To increase the distance set at the point of force based on principle 1, the amounts of increase of thrust are decreased in the blocks B-1, B-3, B-5, B-7 based on principle 2. To further increase the distance set at the point of force based on principle 2, the amounts of decrease of thrust in the blocks B-4, B-8 are increased based on principle 3.
