Summary:PURPOSE:To easily provide an optical module at a lower cost with structural parts for fixing the optical element of the optical module by providing the optical element holder with functions for fixing the optical element and fixing the structural parts, such as circuit board and cover, thereby decreasing the number of parts and the man-hours for assembly. CONSTITUTION:The optical element holder 2 is previously provided with a hole accommodating the optical element 1. The optical element 1 is put into the hole and an iron kept at a high temp. is applied thereto from the side, by which the optical element 1 is thermally caulked. After such optical element and the optical element holder are mounted on the circuit board 4, a cover 3 is put thereon from above. The outside shape of the module is maintained by the extension part of the holder 2 at this time.
