Summary:PURPOSE:To enable the setting of a desired character modification by displaying a sample character to which character modification information is reflected by a sample character display means on a display device in the process of the setting of the character modification. When a user selects character modification information at each character modification selection part of a width selection part 23 from a Japanese style of type selection part 17, for instance, the presence of the input of character modification information is decided. Then, the character data 4 and character modification information 5 within a storage part 3 are called, and a sample character 16 to which the character modification information is reflected is displayed on the display part 2 by a sample character display means 7. Thus, how the character to which the character modification is set is displayed can be confirmed in the process of the setting.
