PURPOSE:To provide a coiling method which uniformly and definitely maintains the temperature of a steel strip in the longitudinal direction of the steel strip in coiling the hot rolling steel strip. CONSTITUTION:At the time of coiling a hot rolling steel strip, a prescribed metallurgical characteristic of the steel strip can be obtained over all the part in the longitudinal direction of the steel strip by attaching a cylinder like tube with the heat resistance having an internal diameter from +1.3 % to +3.9% of a bar diameter at the stand by of coiling the steel strip on the mandrel bar of a coiling machine, avoiding the movement of the heat from the high temperature steel strip to the mandrel bar and uniformly and definitely maintaining the temperature of the steel strip.
