PURPOSE:To prevent looseness of a coil from being produced by constituting an upender for rotating a band plate coil to be transferred from a winder while being placed on a coil car so as to press the band plate coil by advancing a plurality of pressing arms from the inside of a lateral arm. CONSTITUTION:A band plate coil 1 transferred to the specific position from a winder by a coil car is placed on a lateral arm 2 from the coil car. The lateral arm 2 is conveyed by a cylinder according to the width direction size of the band plate coil 1 until the end in the wall thickness direction touches a coil receiving surface of the longitudinal arm 3. The longitudinal arm 3 is rotated by 90 deg. clockwise and the band plate 1 is placed on the receiving surface of the longitudinal arm 3 in the raising state. At this time, since the clearance is produced between the lateral arm 2 and the band plate coil 1 by the rotational reaction and looseness of the band plate coil is produced, is thereby a plurality of pressing arms 4 provided in the lateral arm 2, provided with rollers 5 on the tips, and made of elastic material are so advanced as to restrain the band plate coil 1.
