Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a method for selectively extracting and separating vanadi um from an aluminum solution containing 4-valent vanadium and capable of industrially applying. CONSTITUTION:In extracting and separating vanadium from an extracting original solution, which is the aluminum solution containing 4-valent vanadium, the extracting original solution is adjusted to pH 1-4, brought into contact with an extracting organic compound obtained by mixing 2-ethylhexyl mono-2- ethyl hexyl phosphonate with a diluent (e.g. aromatic hydrocarbon) in the ratio of 20:80 to 60:40 by weight ratio and then is brought into contact with a mineral acid of 0.05-2 mol/l to strip vanadium into the mineral aq. solution. Thus, vanadium is extremely efficiently extracted, which is industrially worthwhile.
