Summary:PURPOSE:To make a PM type stepping motor flat and, at the same time, to reduce the cost of the motor. CONSTITUTION:Tapless coils 17 are arranged at appropriate angles around a rotor magnet 11. Each tapless coil 17 is connected in series at every stator yokes 14a and 14b and, as a result, the yoke 14a side becomes A-phase or inverse-of-A-phase and the yoke 14b side becomes B-phase or inverse-of-B-phase. Each yoke 14a and 14b is provided with poles 22 corresponding to the tapless coils 17. When the exciting currents of the yokes 14a and 14b are switched, the rotor magnet 11 is rotated, since magnetic poles generated in the poles 22 are switched. The tapless coils 11 which are inexpensive as compared with the conventional exciting coil are arranged in the same plane in this stepping motor and the assembling accuracy of the motor 1 can be lowered. Therefore, the motor can be flattened and the cost of the motor can be reduced.
