Summary:PURPOSE:To provide an operational method of reduction furnace, in which harmful influence caused by ash content in powdery coke settled on slag surface in the reduction furnace and unburning coke can effectively be removed. CONSTITUTION:The reduction furnace basically constituted with a reaction tower and a settler connecting its one end with the lower end of the reaction tower and the other end with an exhaust flue and having a lance which penetrates the roof part of the settler and is inserted into the inner part through the tip part of the settler is used. The whole quantity or the most part of the raw material to be charged, a part of fuel and a part of gas for reaction are injected into the reaction tower from a burner arranged to the reaction tower. The remained raw material, remained fuel and remained gas for reaction are injected into the settler from the lance arranged at the roof part of the settler. While preventing the increasing of exhaust gas quantity and the lowering of CO concn., slagging of the ash content in the powdery coke settled on the slag surface in the settler and the generation of metal iron caused by the unburning coke can be prevented.
