Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a method for recovering molybdenum from an aluminum solution contg. molybdenum. CONSTITUTION:A reducing sulfuric acid solution contg. molybdenum and a large amount of aluminum is used as the original solution to be subjected to extraction and molybdenum is extracted and separated from this original solution. In this separation, the pH of the original solution is adjusted to 0 to 4, and then the original solution is brought into contact with an organic extractant obtained by mixing a secondary amine represented by the general formula R1-NH-R2, wherein each of R1 and R2 is an alkyl group having 12 to 13 carbon atoms, and a diluent in a 5:95 to 20:80 weight ratio. Thereafter the organic extractant is brought into contact with a 0.5 to 5mol/l caustic alkali solution or a 20.5 mol/l aq. ammonia to strip out molybdenum. This separation enables to very efficiently recover molybdenum and therefore is industrially significant.
