Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new catalyst having high activity and capable of providing a polymer having wide molecular weight distribution by combining a solid catalyst component obtained by a specific method with an organoaluminum compound. CONSTITUTION:A reactional mixture of (B) a compound having a bond of the formula M-O-R (M is Al, C, etc.; R is 1-20C hydrocarbon) and (C) a Ti compound of formula I [R is R; X is halogen; (lambda is 0-4[ and (D) a Zr compound of formula II [R is R; (m) is 1] and/or an H/f compound of formula III [R is R; (n) is 1] is made to react with (E) an organomagnesium compound in the presence of a porous body having >=0.3ml/g pore volume and 75-2000Angstrom pore radius. Then, the oxidation product obtained by reacting the reactional product with (F) an oxidizing compound is brought into contact with (G) a halogen-containing Ti compound of formula IV (R is R; S is 1) and (H) an organoaluminum halide compound of formula V (R is R; C is 0-3) to afford a solid catalyst component, which is then combined with an organoaluminum compound to provide the objective catalyst.
