Summary:PURPOSE:To easily produce a molding excellent in water permeability at a low cost by compounding a specified resin as a binder in a specified amt. to cristobalite as the essential component to obtain specified water permeability. CONSTITUTION:This cristobalite molded filter having water permeability to filter and purify water consists essentially of cristobalite. To this component, the necessary amt. of epoxy resin having about 3500cps viscosity is compounded with a hardening promotor having about 250cps viscosity and specified resin such as silicone resin having about 600cps viscosity as a binder. The obtd. permeability is 1/10 -3/10 cm/sec. By this method, porosity of the cristobalite can be maintained. By permeating water through pulverized grains of cristobalite, sludge matter and bacteria are physically adsorbed and the ammonia ion concn. is reduced.
