Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a copper allay wire improved in mechanical strength and electric conductivity and furthermore improved in productivity at low cost by adding specified amounts of P, In and Sn to Cu and suppressing the content of oxygen. CONSTITUTION:This is a copper alloy wire obtd. by adding 2 to 40ppm P and total 0.1 to 1.0% of one or two kinds of In and Sn to Cu and in which the content of O is regulated to <=50ppm. In this wire, high strength and high electric conductivity can simultaneously be obtd. without using toxic Cd and expensive Ag. At the time of producing the copper allay wire, in a continuous casting device, the reducing degree of the reducing atmosphere is controlled to regulate the oxygen content in molten copper, furthermore, the molten copper is added with prescribed amounts of P and In and/or Sn, and then, continuous casting is executed. The obtd. cast material is subjected to rolling and wire drawing. At this time, by the addition of P, the amt. of hydrogen to be released is suppressed to obtain the cast material free from blowholes, and discontinuity is prevented by rolling and wire drawing to attain the improvement of the productivity and the reduction of the production cost.
