Summary:PURPOSE: To provide an intelligent electric socket which is free from not only the disadvantage of an electric mechanical switch but also the disadvantage of a semiconductor switch, and can be entirely housed in an equipment body having a small dimension. CONSTITUTION: An intelligent electric socket 1 is controlled by an instruction signal, and comprises a semiconductor switch. The socket also comprises an electric mechanical switch and a signal processor, and the electric mechanical switch is connected in parallel to the semiconductor switch. The signal processor 11 receives the instruction signal and controls the operation of the semiconductor switch and the electric mechanical switch.
