PURPOSE:To enable continuous operation in long time and improve shape of cut product in a covering and cutting apparatus consisting of a cyclic assembly prepared by combining three or more block pieces made of a plastics. CONSTITUTION:The covering and cutting apparatus is constituted of a means for continuously feeding a rod-like food body and a means coaxially provided in the lower part of the above-mentioned means and simultaneously and independently sliding three or more block pieces 3 in a housing accommodating a cyclic assembly 8 which repeats transfer of a central enclosed space part 7 from open state to close and lost state therein. This cyclic assembly 8 is formed by combining three or more block pieces 3 using adjacent two sides as sliding faces in contact with these sliding faces. A slider 63 independent from block piece body is provided on the sliding face of at least one block piece 3 facing on the enclosed space part 7 and simultaneously a means for pressing this slider 63 in the top direction of the block piece 3 is provided. The slider 63 of a driving block piece 61 is brought into contact with the adjacent block piece 3 under pressure and gap 64 is absorbed by the slider 63 of two driving block pieces 3 to make opening and closing of the space part smooth.
