Summary: | PURPOSE:To provide an energization type exothermic catalyst converter having a combustion catalyst of a metal type honeycomb structure not only functioning as an insulating layer but also having excellent activity, strength, productivity, etc. CONSTITUTION:A honeycomb carrier is formed by winding a net-like woven fabric 3 of inorg. fibers, which are formed by depositing inorg. particulates on the inorg. fibers to insulate a corrugated metallic sheet 2 of an energizing part, together with the metallic sheet 2. This carrier is then made into the catalyst. The net-like woven fabric 3 of the inorg. fibers deposited with the ceramic particulates, etc., is freely deformable, is easy to handle and has strength. Titanium oxide particulates of <=1mum are deposited together with a silica sol, etc., on the inorg. fibers, such as glass fibers and silica alumina, to reinforce these fibers, by which shape holdability and rigidity are enhanced without impairing the advantages of the inorg. fibers; in addition, the mesh deviation of the fibers is prevented and the strength and durability of the fibers are made further higher than the strength and durability of the fibers alone. |
