Summary: | PURPOSE:To provide the electrooptical element stuck large-area liquid crystal-high- polymer composite films and electrode substrates together. CONSTITUTION:This electrooptical element is constituted by providing the liquid crystal-high-polymer composite films 3 in which low-molecular liquid crystal compds. 1 and high-polymer compds. 2 exist in a phase sepn. state on the substrates 4, 5. The substrates 4, 5 have the surfaces formed of materials having reactive groups. These reactive groups bond chemically with the high-polymer compds. 2 formed on the surfaces. The electrooptical element is produced by applying a coating liquid contg. the low-molecular liquid crystal compds., the high-polymer compds. having the reactive groups in the side chains and reactive compds. reactable with these reactive groups or a coating liquid contg. polymerizable monomers on the substrate having the surface formed of the material having the reactive groups, superposing another sheet of the substrate having the surface formed of the material having the reactive groups and bringing these substrates into reaction with each other. The production of the element is also possible by encapsulating the low-molecular liquid crystal compds. and the polymerizable monomers between two sheets of the substrates having the surfaces formed of the materials having the reactive groups on the inside surfaces and bringing these compds. and monomers into reaction. |
