Summary:PURPOSE:To control the occurrence of head crack resulting from thermal strain inside a cylinder jacket by making engine cooling water circulate in order from a head jacket to a cylinder jacket. CONSTITUTION:Cooling water for a Diesel engine with sub-combustion chamber equipped with a water jacket 3 composed of a head jacket 1 and a cylinder jacket 2 and a radiator 4 is made to circulate mutually between the water jacket 3 and the radiator 4 by the actuation of a water pump 5. The cooling water flowing back from the radiator 4 is passed through in order from the head jacket 1 to the cylinder jacket 2.
