Summary:PURPOSE:To facilitate the installation of the position detecting device of an injection molding machine and make highly accurate positional detection possible by a method wherein the device concerned is unitized by employing a ball screw shaft and a ball nut member. CONSTITUTION:The position detecting unit 11 consists of a seating body 12, which is installed along the travelling direction of the movable part of an injection molder and has the required length, a fixed-position ball screw shaft 14, which is rotatably supported at both the ends of the seating body 12, a ball nut member 15, which screws with the ball screw shaft 14, at the same time, is connected with the movable part side of the injection molder so as to rotate the ball screw shaft 14, and a position detecting rotary encoder 18, which is mounted on one end of the seating body 12 so as to connect its rotating shaft 16 with the shaft end of the all screw shaft 14.
