Summary:PURPOSE:To adjust an optical axis easily and in a short time by a method wherein constituent components such as a dye cell, a partial reflector, a lens and the like are installed collectively inside a dye-cell holder and targets are installed at both ends. CONSTITUTION:When an optical axis is adjusted, a dye-cell holder 17 is aligned, by a target 19 for optical-axis adjustment use, with a laser beam 21, for optical- axis adjustment use, which is radiated from a laser oscillator 20 for optical-axis adjustment use. Then, optical components inside the dye-cell holder are aligned automatically with a laser optical axis. At a point of time when the laser optical axis has been aligned, the laser beam is passed through, and comes out from, a hole made in the center of the target 19 for optical-axis adjustment use and the optical axis of a dye-cell holder 17a for amplification use can be adjusted without missing the target 19 for optical-axis adjustment use. The die-cell holder 17a for amplification use can be adjusted in the same manner. In addition, the angle of a beam splitter 3 and a total reflector 4 is adjusted in such a way that a laser beam 2a for excitation use is brought to a correct position by an optical-axis confirmation target 22.
