Summary:PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording medium capable of high-density recording by decreasing the substantial spot diameter of condensed light. CONSTITUTION:Lots of pits 3 for information recording are formed on a transparent disk substrate 2 consisting of polycarbonate or the like. Then, a layer 4 to change transmittance consisting of a thermochromic material or the like is formed on the substrate. On this layer 4, an aluminum reflecting layer 5 and a UV-curing protective layer 6 are formed in this order same as a conventional medium to obtain a read-only optical disk 1 of this invention.
