Summary:PURPOSE:To provide the method which can easily, surely and diagonally form the end of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A masking material 1 covering the end 3 of the optical fiber 2 is diagonally removed at a specific angle with the optical fiber axis and thereafter, this end 3 is subjected to an etching treatment by an etching liquid 4 to diagonally dissolve the end 3. As a result, the non-reflection end of the optical fiber 2 is inexpensively formed. The processing with good reproducibility is possible and the non-reflection end having good quality is obtd.
