Summary:PURPOSE:To increase the effectively useable inner volume of a refrigerator and prevent the deformation and damage of the evaporating device in transit. CONSTITUTION:The refrigerator is provided with side plates 2 forming the side faces thereof, a side beam 3 mounted to the lower edge of each side plate 2, a bottom plate 4 joined to each side plate 2 to cover the bottom surface of the refrigerator and an evaporating device 10 located below the bottom plate 4. The lower surface of the evaporating device 10 is disposed below the side beam 3 and a bottom part protecting member 19 is provided on the side of the evaporating device 10 projecting downwards past the lower surface thereof.
