Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the redifferentiation ratio in the differentiation of callus induced and proliferated from the apical meristem of rush in the form of a regenerated plant body and remarkably contribute to the mass-production of rush by lowering the water content of a callus by a drying means before transplanting the callus to a redifferentiation medium. CONSTITUTION:The apical meristem of rush is extracted and cultured on an MS medium incorporated with auxin and cytokinin to effect the induction and proliferation of the callus. The proliferated callus is dried to some extent, transplanted to a redifferentiation medium and subjected to static culture under aseptic condition to effect the differentiation of a regenerated plant body from the callus.
