Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent cross talk between rows of dynodes due to electron leakage in a linear multianode photomultiplier or an electron multiplier on which a plurality of measuring beams and energy-rays of electrons, ions, etc., are incident one-dimensionally. CONSTITUTION:Regarding a transmission-type photomultiplier, the direction of secondary electrons of a dynode 71 in a first stage of each row of dynodes 6 is set to be 180 deg. opposite to that of a dynode of neighboring row of dynodes. Consequently, the neighboring rows of dynodes are not set face to face but shifted in transverse direction by a prescribed distance. As a result, even if electrons leak from one row of dynodes, the leaking electrons do not come in the dynodes of the neighboring row and thus cross talk can be prevented.
