Summary:PURPOSE:To shorten the scanning period of time for a carriage when a continu ous scanning is carried out by accelerating speed to an opposite direction contin uously after slowing down without a positional controlling on the inverting position of the carriage at the time of the continuous scanning of the carriage. CONSTITUTION:At a single scanning, low speed and accelerating/slowing down driving voltage generation circuits 9 and 10, a polarity switching circuit 12, etc., are controlled by a control circuit 7, the carriage (Ca) 1 of an optical card is moved to an L direction and stopped at a target position by an inverting sensor 15. At the time of a continuous scanning, a switch 11 is made to a (b) side by the circuit 7, the driving voltage of a circuit 12 is made to the polarity of an R direction, a controlling for sending the Ca 1 to the R direction is started by the circuit 10 and on a specified point, it is moved from an acceleration to a speed control. Then, the Ca 1 is put on a break by giving a voltage to a linear motor coil 14 from the circuit 10 and then from the circuit 9 and driven at a low speed. Further, an invertion driving voltage is given to the coil 14 by the circuit 12 and the Ca 1 is immediately moved to the L direction without a temporay stop on a controlling position. Thus, the scanning period of time for the Ca 1 is shortened.
