Summary:PURPOSE:To provide an arc furnace which has an air-discharging device for preventing sparking where an electrode is inserted. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a hood 2 for an electrode provided at each part where an electrode is inserted and an air-discharging pipe 3 for discharging air connected to the hood 2 for an electrode. An insulating gap is formed in the air-discharging pipe 3. It is preferable for the insulating gap to be a space gap 5 and, in the case of a space gap 5, use of an ejector 6 on the side of the electrode at the space gap 5 is desirable.
