Summary:PURPOSE:To provide an inspecting method wherein unevenness of an optical loss characteristics and a reflecting characteristics of an optical connecter can be reduced and a grinding process in an assembly of the optical connecter can be automated. CONSTITUTION:A connecter plug CP forming an optical connecter is fixed and an end face of the connecter plug is irradiated with a light from a prescribed light source L. A luminance distribution at an identical section of the end face of the connecter plug CP is measured by means of a camera 50 with a lens to be inputted into a computer 60. In accordance with the measured distribution, the quality or the existence of a scar on the end face of the connecter plug CP is detected.
