Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the high speed seam weldability, pitting corrosion resistance, adhesion of coating material or the like in the stock for a welded can, on the surface of a steel sheet applied with a prescribed amt. of Ni alloy plated layer, by furthermore forming an Sn plated layer and a chromate film under prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a steel sheet is plated with an Ni-Fe alloy layer or an Ni-P alloy to form a plated layer of 2 to 150mg/m . Its surface is coated with an Sn plated layer, and in which Sn plating grains having 0.2 to 12mu grain size are scattered in a ratio of 10 to 2800mg/m . Moreover, a chromate film of 1 to 50mg/m in terms of chromium) is formed thereon. This stock for a welded can is excellent in high speed seam weldability, pitting corrosion resistance, heat resistance and the adhesion of coating material.
