Summary: | PURPOSE:To remove CO and CO2 so that their concentration may be lowered to an ultra-low concentration by allowing a crude ammonia to contact to a catalyst essentially consisting of Ni. CONSTITUTION:A carrier powder such as kieselguhr, alumina, silica alumina, etc., is dispersed in nickel salt aq. solution, nickel component is precipitated on the carrier by adding an alkali, and after dried at 120-150 deg.C, the precipitated material is calcined at >=300 deg.C and pulverized to obtain a catalyst essentially consisting of nickel contained at 5-95wt.% and having 10-300m /g BET specific surface area. In case when the catalyst is contacted with a crude ammonia at a condition of <=100m/sec linear velocity in an empty cylinder, <=20kg/cm abs and at <=200 deg.C, an ammonia in which CO and CO2 content is <=0.1ppm is obtained. |
