Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a solid-state image sensing device, high image quality and easily drivable in spite of being a high picture element and big size one, by forming a plurality of independent image sensing devices adjoining one another on the same semiconductor substrate. CONSTITUTION:A first image area 31 and a second image area 37 are formed on the same semiconductor substrate extremely closely at an interval corresponding to one or two picture elements, and one picture image is obtained by the two image areas 31 and 37. Consequently, the length of a vertical transfer gate and a horizontal transfer gate 32 and 38 is halved, compared with a case where an image area of a similar size is used for constitution as a single area sensor, and it becomes possible to widen a clock margin for operating the sensor normally to a large extent. Accordingly, it becomes possible to realize a solid-state image sensing device, high image quality and easily drivable in spite of being a high picture element and big size one.
