Summary:PURPOSE:To provide an electrophotographic sensitive body having an underlayer almost free from trouble such as cracking liable to occur at the time of drying after coating, not causing a change in potential by electrification or the rise of residual potential at the time of repeated use and having excellent electrophotographic characteristics. CONSTITUTION:An underlayer is formed on an electric conductive substrate with a coating soln. prepd. by hydrolyzing >=50% each of a zirconium chelate compd. or a zirconium alkoxide compd. and a silane coupling agent as starting materials or >=50% of a mixture of them in a soln. of an org. solvent. The amt. of org. residues in the underlayer is >=25mol% of the amt. of the starting materials.
